Republic Act No. 11223, known as the Universal Health Care Act, was signed into law in 2019 to provide all Filipinos with access to quality and affordable health services. The law automatically enrolls every Filipino citizen into the National Health Insurance Program, ensuring that everyone can avail of comprehensive health services, from preventive to curative and rehabilitative care.

The law significantly impacts children by guaranteeing their access to essential health services, regardless of their family's financial status. This includes vaccinations, regular check-ups, treatment for illnesses, and other health interventions that are crucial for a child’s growth and development. The Universal Health Care Act aims to reduce health disparities, ensuring that all children, especially those from low-income families, receive the medical care they need.
