The Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, 1999 (No. 182) is a fundamental international treaty adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO). It mandates that ratifying countries take immediate and effective measures to prohibit and eliminate the worst forms of child labour. These include slavery, forced labour, trafficking, use of children in armed conflict, prostitution, pornography, illicit activities such as drug trafficking, and hazardous work13. The convention emphasizes the importance of free basic education and the rehabilitation and social integration of affected children.
