The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on a Communications Procedure allows children or their representatives to submit complaints about violations of their rights directly to the Committee on the Rights of the Child when national legal systems fail to address these issues effectively. Adopted on December 19, 2011, and in force since April 14, 2014, this protocol aims to enhance the protection of children's rights by providing an international mechanism for redress.
